NOTES FROM THE GEOGRAPHY CUPBOARD

Firstly a well deserved well done to students for their successes at GCSE and A level. Their hard work on making improvements to their coursework, attending revision sessions and working hard in class proved worthwhile and the great results were well deserved.

Welcome to our new year 7 students. We hope that you enjoy finding out about the world you live in.

Year 11

GCSE coursework is nearing completion for students. Parents and students are reminded that coursework catch-up sessions are run every Tuesday after-school in E4 and at other times if you discuss this with your geography teacher or Mr Child. All students should be aiming to achieve there target grades or better in their coursework and are urged to attend coursework catch-up sessions to make sure this happens.

Also all GCSE students have recently received syllabus specific revision guides from the geography department to help them with their studies – students should make regular use of these over the coming months in the run up to their mock exams in December and of course their final exam in June.

Year 12

Upcoming fieldwork: This year we will be carrying out our fieldwork residential in the Swanage area little later then normal from 9 - 12 November. We will be staying in a different base this year; a dedicated field studies base near the coastal village of Worth Matravers. As usual this should prove to be a very enjoyable, enlightening but hardworking long weekend.
