MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

German Exchange - Thank you to all of you who have agreed to host a German student next September. Our students should have the email address of the German student they are hosting and we would like to encourage them to contact them and start getting to know one another. It would be very useful if those families who are hosting a student doing work experience could check that they can make the necessary transport arrangements. There will be a social evening for students and host families and Mrs Pembrey would like to have replies about numbers coming before the end of term.

Apologies to those who have had to be disappointed this year and do not have a student – you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone drops out.

KS5 and KS5 - Students have now completed their AS and GCSE exams. We were particularly impressed with their positive attitude to their Oral Exams, for which there was 100% attendance. All Year 12 students and many GCSE students attended intensive days in order to prepare for their orals. Well done!

Year 7 trip to the Rhineland in Germany - The trip to Germany is now in the final stages of preparation. There are 43 students taking part, along with 4 members of staff and Ian Machattie, a Year 13 student who is a trained lifeguard. The trip will give students the chance to get a small taste of German life and culture. We shall be visiting a castle, a music museum, taking a trip on a boat down the Rhine, a mini train ride through the vineyards as well as swimming in the youth hostel pool and playing mini-golf. We don’t know who is more excited – the staff or the students.

Gateway to the World Evening 21 June -   We would like to thank all the staff and students from Holyrood and our feeder Primary schools who contributed to putting on a wonderful evening of multicultural displays and entertainment.

Mrs H Pembrey

Etudiez Les Langues Au Collège

Holyrood.

Les professeurs s’appellent;
