MINUTES OF THE STUDENT FORUM

WEDNESDAY 14 MARCH 2007

Present:        Cory Stuckey, Holly Baker,  Victoria Taylor, Elissa-Leigh Stevens, Charlotte Bean, Tom Wardle, Hannah Crichton-Smith, Emma Hicks, Dan Grimstead, Tom Evans, Jeremy White, S McAndrew, L Townsend.

Healthy Living and School Food

Mr Townsend, responsible for Millennium Catering, listened to student concerns on food pricing – healthy food often more expensive, locally grown organic food and Fairtrade food.  He was prepared to investigate the Forum’s concerns and explained the investment his company had made with equipment to our catering facilities.   However he would investigate the price of fruit and local products.  The issue of the availability of water was also raised as one of the machines had been removed because of breakage.

The Forum was going to investigate why students were resistant to school meals.  Some of the reasons given were time being able to eat and socialise with each other and the environment (music, chairs, social atmosphere).
