YEAR 10 NEWS
I
said that Year 10 would go quickly, and here we are, half way through the
year already!
Progress Reports and Subject Evening
You
have already been in for Progress Day and so know how your son or daughter
was performing academically, and on
Friday 7 March,
the next Progress Report will be sent home, following the same pattern as
the one you received in November. The Subject Evening follows on
Wednesday 2 April
where
you can meet with subject teachers, and it is good to know that there are
now so many opportunities for you to be kept up to date with lessons and
attitude in school. As always, please contact us if you feel there is
something that we need to work on together.
Coursework
Coursework is well underway in some subjects and there are planned
fortnights where the focus is on ensuring that the standard is good and that
all is being handed-in. When you receive this newsletter, we will be halfway
through our first such session, and so we hope to be able to work together
with home to ensure that all is well.
Work Experience
The
prospect of Work Experience still looms, and we would be grateful if you
could check that your son or daughter has sent in the blue form that is
required. Leaving it too late may result in loss of placement if we cannot
process them in time and make sure that insurance is in place, and we do
have 250 places to research!
Year 10 Buddies
We
have 20 Year 10 buddies trained and out there helping others, and I am so
proud of them! They are a real credit to their families and the school, and
it is lovely to see older students giving freely of their own time to help
others.
PSHE
PSHE
this half term has covered the topic of Drugs and Alcohol, and we have had
many outside providers in to speak to the students. I really hope that the
sessions have made our students think deeply about these issues and that
they will all keep safe. Next half term, we move on to look at careers and
Work Experience preparation.
And Finally……..
10.4
have seen the return, after her maternity leave, of Mrs Selway as their
tutor. I would like to welcome her back, and also thank Miss Davies who
worked so well and so effectively with 10.4 in her absence. She worked
really hard to ensure that the students’ provision was kept at a high
standard and she has now moved to a different year team.
