YEAR 11 NEWS
A
belated Happy Shrove Tuesday – I hope you’ve all eaten plenty of
pancakes! January has passed by in a fury and already half term is
looming – don’t think you can sit on your laurels now because if you do
coursework will come crashing down around your ears!
Academic Monitoring and Targets
Since the last newsletter, we have all benefited from the Academic
Monitoring Day and you should have a list of the targets that you agreed
with your tutor (or me if you’re in 11/4). These should be in your
planners. Now would be a good time to refer to them as they will help
you focus on areas that you find difficult or challenging.
Of course, we now have the GCSE mock exams behind us. How were they for
you? If you seriously reflect on the results that you achieved, are you
pleased? Could you have got better grades and if so how? The whole
purpose of the mocks was for you to go through the experience of
multiple exams and the pressures this brings. How can you prepare more
thoroughly for the real thing? The PSHE programme has some helpful
ideas nearer the time, and you should be starting to gently engage with
revision NOW. There are lots of ways to support you in this – SAM
learning, BBC bite-size, and of course after school help sessions.
Parents Evening
Thanks to those of you who attended the recent subject evening. Staff
at Holyrood certainly felt it was a really useful evening and a positive
boost to parents and students. If you were unable to make it please
contact the school if you have any concerns.
Record of Achievement Files
About now we are starting to compile our Record of Achievement files and
there will be lots for Year 11 students to do in not much time. Use
every opportunity to get the requisite documents written up and saved,
ready to be collated by your tutor.
Year 11 Prom
You will be pleased to hear that your year 11 Prom Committee are working
hard on all the different aspects of planning the big event. Inside
info (in case you’re concerned about colour clashes) - the scheme is
probably purple and silver. So, if you haven’t already, put a big cross
in your diaries for
Friday 11 July.
Keep your spirits up and keep working hard, try to get the work/play
balance right, be supportive of each other and know that you are all in
the same boat. Only 11 weeks to go!!!!
