YEAR 7 NEWS
It
has been very pleasant to welcome Year 7 back to Holyrood. All of them look
much more rested after their first term, which inevitably involved some
nervousness and the tiredness brought on by the need to adjust to so many
new people, places and routines. As students seem to have felt more certain
of themselves in this new environment, there has seemed to be a more
confident and calmer approach to new situations - I hope that this will
continue.
Progress Updates
You
should by now have received the second set of Progress Grades and I hope
that you found them interesting and informative. Although it is not possible
to meet with you for Progress Day more than once a year; I am sure that you
will enjoy looking at this Progress Update at home and find ways to reward
effort and achievement.
Portsmouth Trip
As
you know a trip to Portsmouth has been arranged for Year 7. As I am sure you
will understand such trips take a great deal of planning; therefore if you
wish your son/daughter to take part, it is essential that the reply slip and
the deposit are returned to the Finance Office before
15
February 2008.
Year 7 Disco
A
Year 7 disco has been arranged for
Thursday 28 February 2008.
Please return the slip as indicated in the letter. I am very keen to invite
the entire Year group to these events however I do emphasise that such
invitations are sometimes not offered if students show that their behaviour
in school causes some doubt about their possible behaviour out of school and
might put others at risk.
Please read both letters carefully to ensure that students are met at the
appropriate times; given the distance involved the return time for the
Portsmouth trip is approximate.
PSHE
In
PSHE Year 7 are completing the topic on Puberty before half-term and will go
on to work on the topic of Food and Healthy Diet.
